Empowering Minds, Transforming Neuroscience: Where Discovery Begins
Welcome to the Bibb Lab! We are a recently arrived laboratory within the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (UA COMP), and are part of the newly formed Department of Translational Neurosciences located on the 4th floor of the Biomedical Sciences Partnership Building in downtown Phoenix. Dr. James Bibb is the lab director and department chair.
Conduct collaborative and innovative research
The Bibb lab's move to UA COMP is the first step in establishing a department of leading scientists conducting cutting-edge neurobiology research. Our departmental and lab goal is to understand brain function from the systems to individual molecular mechanistic levels. We also want to understand the causes of diseases of the CNS and how they may be treated.
Graduate student training
Our approach to graduate student training is to provide the richest opportunities possible for career development through mentoring and support for innovative research. All projects are collaborative, where different team members with different expertise can contribute so that papers are multi-dimensional, tell a story from different perspectives, and have a chance to be published in high-impact journals. Many of our students are recognized with awards, and go on to postdocs in top labs and institutions, industry positions, and faculty.
